Big changes are on the horizon for residents of Wyoming, MI! A brand-new Maverik gas station and convenience store is currently under construction at 777 54th St. SW, conveniently located near the intersection with Clyde Park Avenue. This fresh addition to the community is aimed at providing locals with all their fueling and convenience needs, and isn’t it just great? The launch is officially scheduled for April 2025, so mark your calendars!
This Maverik store will be the eighth location in the bustling Grand Rapids area, making it easier than ever for residents to fill up their tanks or grab a quick snack. The store is nestled in a commercial hub filled with popular spots like Meijer, Target, and Chick-fil-A, right by the U.S. 131 highway on and off-ramps. It’s clear that Maverik is making a smart move in setting up shop in such a vibrant area!
You might remember that the new Maverik location is taking the place of the former Arnie’s restaurant and bakery. The Wyoming Planning Commission gave the green light for the demolition of Arnie’s back in December 2023, paving the way for this exciting new venture. Out with the old, in with the new!
Once the doors swing open, customers will find a store that operates around the clock, seven days a week. How convenient is that? With a team of up to five employees working on-site at any given time, the service is sure to be both efficient and friendly. Don’t be surprised if you find everything from standard convenience items to food, ice, propane, firewood, and even road salt—all the essentials for those chilly Michigan winters!
The gas station will be equipped with an impressive six fueling dispensers, accommodating up to 12 vehicles simultaneously. That means no long waits when you need to refuel.
Now, some may wonder why Maverik is such a big deal. Well, this unique chain is known for its adventure-themed branding and operates mainly in the western U.S. Excitingly, the company recently made headlines when it acquired Kum & Go in 2023, and they’re in the process of rebranding Kum & Go locations to become Maverik stores. In fact, seven existing Kum & Go locations around Grand Rapids are also scheduled to be transformed into Maverik stores within the next couple of years.
It’s worth noting that although Michigan may be one of the smaller markets for Kum & Go, Maverik is committed to strengthening its presence here. Just last January, the first location opened, and more are set to follow!
Maverik’s rebranding effort aims to unify its presence across various states and enhance customer experience. Grand Rapids and other eligible markets can expect 61 stores to be rebranded in Missouri and 53 in Arkansas by fall 2025. All of this reflects Maverik’s determination to provide excellent convenience store experiences to every customer who walks through their doors.
As the opening date approaches, excitement is sure to build among locals looking for a dependable place to refuel and pick up some snacks. Stay tuned for more updates as Wyoming welcomes its newest store to the community!
